In the heart of this beautiful city, you will find the Center for European Studies (CES), at Maastricht University (UM). UM is the most international university in the Netherlands, and one of the best young universities in the world.

It is also known for its innovative education model PBL (Problem-Based Learning).  At CES, we strive to provide you with the best possible study abroad experiences, both inside and outside the classroom and we’ve been doing so for more than 30 years.

Our international team is really dedicated to students and we take care of them before, during and even after they have left Maastricht, CES offers a variety of programmers.

Our Open Enrolment Programmed (OEP) take place in January, spring, summer and fall.



We also offer various University-Specific programmer (USP), which are organized for students from particular universities and colleges.

For the spring and fall semester, you can choose from five different OEP programmers.

Your programming coordinator will guide you through the application process, and help you prepare for your study abroad.

They will also arrange your housing, organize an introduction programme and are available, for any questions you might have.

They will also help you build a personalized curriculum from the 400 bachelor-level courses, offered at UM and various CES courses, which combine strong academics, integrated field trips and unique hands-on experiences.

During your semester at UM, you can gain between 24 and 32 ECTS credits.  And that’s not all!  Our services also include assistance with visa and residence permit procedures, airport pick-up,24/7 emergency assistance, integrated study and cultural trips to Berlin, various cities in the Netherlands and Paris.



You will also have the opportunity to explore Europe on your own.  Via one of the eight airports surrounding Maastricht you can fly to major European cities, such as London, Prague, Budapest, Rome and Barcelona.

Our coordinators are always willing to help if you need travel advice! Most CES students stay at the International Student Guesthouse of Maastricht University, which is located within easy walking distance of downtown Maastricht.

The Guesthouse is home to international students from all over the world, and is a great place to make friends.
